The O2 in London welcomes more than 8 million visitors each year. Pabrico was commissioned to create a striking 30‑foot‑high curved wall above the entrance to indigo, the venue’s 2,800‑capacity live music space. The project’s flowing, organic shapes made polystyrene the perfect cost‑effective material for the job.
Working from detailed technical drawings, Pabrico cut nearly 100 individual polystyrene sections, each one more than 6 feet tall. Designing and drafting every piece took a full week. Slots were precision‑cut into the backs so the sections could interlock and fix securely to the wall, while cut‑outs were prepared to allow modern LED lighting to run seamlessly through the structure. Each piece was numbered, transforming the installation into a giant three‑dimensional jigsaw puzzle.
On site, the wall was assembled and fixed into position. To ensure durability, the entire surface was coated with a water‑based render before being painted to match the venue’s interior. In total, the supply and installation of the polystyrene elements took just two weeks, delivering a bold architectural feature that continues to greet visitors at The O2 today.
