In 2010, Arsenal’s former home at Highbury Stadium was transformed into luxury apartments. As a listed building, Highbury was required to retain key architectural features during the conversion. Among these was Arsenal’s iconic cannon logo, a monumental stone sculpture measuring approximately 4 metres wide by 2 metres high.
Pabrico was commissioned to produce a full‑size replica of the original cannon, using modern construction techniques while ensuring it blended seamlessly with the historic character of the site.
The Construction Process
We began by crafting a scaled‑down replica of the Highbury cannon to secure client approval. Once the design was signed off, our team produced the full‑size version in just a week and a half. The build resembled assembling a giant jigsaw puzzle, with numerous parts cut to shape and layered together to form the final structure.
When complete, the logo was spray‑coated with a two‑part epoxy finish. This water‑based coating guaranteed full waterproof protection, preserving the piece against the elements. Finally, the cannon was painted in Arsenal’s classic colours, restoring a symbol of the club’s heritage for generations to admire.
